The Morin Khuur is a traditional Mongolian instrument and “Mongolian Traditional Music of the Morin Khuur” was proclaimed by UNESCO as one of the “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” in 2003 and inscribed in the “Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” in 2008. Since then morin khuur became a world-renowned musical instrument and foreign conservatories began to teach morin khuur professionally. Therefore, it is essential to have an activity to further expand the growth and the artistic development of morin khuur.
Our goal is to enhance the artistic development and the essence of morin khuur in this era. It is important to have a platform where its core values are discussed and shared amongst peers. Through this festival, we aspire to encourage Mongolians to further study the culture; promote Mongolian culture in Europe via the introduction of morin khuur; evaluate the needs of modern morin khuur making and evolution of its playing; and determine the vision for the future.
